March 21,2017: As a traditional British trained doctor I had symptoms for which western medicine has no solution.
My son had used the centre and, although a very sceptical person, he enthused about the treatment he received and its effectiveness. I decided to try it out. Absolutely brilliant!
Both doctors are very well trained in Chinese and Western medicine. My consultation was much more thorough than most specialist examinations by western consultants. The problem was identified and I was given acupuncture to treat it and in addition I also had some deep massage and cupping for some neck pain, which has already helped enormously. I have herbal pills to take twice daily and I have a repeat appointment in one week.I am very impressed already and if my main problem Is alleviated, as predicted, I will be absolutely delighted.
I thoroughly recommend this alternative treatment for those cases where western medicine has no effective answer and no holistic approach.
May 9, 2017: As a doctor I suffered debilitating menopausal flushing, associated with extreme exhaustion, for which western medicine had no solution as I cannot take oestrogen (HRT). I also had arthritic pains in my hands and neck, but did not want to take anti inflammatory drugs. My energy level is infinitely better, my flushing has almost disappeared and the arthritic pains are dramatically improved too. I can once more enjoy working in the garden that I love and thoroughly enjoy looking after two very young grandchildren whenever possible. I swim for an hour every day and walk most days for an hour. I am learning ballroom dancing and am studying Spanish and have the energy to entertain and socialise in the way that I love. I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough. There is so much more to this traditional Chinese approach to medicine that we in the west dismiss to our detriment.
I had suffered with migraines for years and no treatment seemed very effective until I tried Chandler's Ford Chinese Medical Center. Within 2 weeks of acupuncture treatment I noticed a big improvement to my headaches and now with continued treatment I rarely have migraines. Kai-long and Jane are great professionals and are very friendly and welcoming. The needles used in treatment itself are actually quite painless and I always have a relaxing experience. I would highly recommend this medical center to anyone with body pains or headache issues.
The best ever! Had chronic back pain after a whiplash and Jane managed to make it go away. That was after my GP said I just needed to get used to it. Jane is so helpful and really has patients' best interest at heart. Words can't describe how thankful I am. Thank you so much, Jane!!!!!
Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) is a complete health system comprising acupuncture, acupressure, herb medicine, Tui Na( Medical massage), exercise and lifestyle prescriptions. It has been practised for thousands of years. Chinese herbal medicine is one of the great herbal systems of the world, with an unbroken tradition going back to the 3rd century BC. Yet throughout its history it has continually developed in response to changing clinical conditions, and has been sustained by research into every aspect of its use. This process continues today with the development of modern medical diagnostic techniques and knowledge. The TCM approach is fundamentally different from that of Western medicine.
Acupuncture has been an essential part of medicine for thousands of years in China. Acupuncture is
a safe and effective method of treatment for many common ailments. Acupuncture encourages the body
to promote natural healing and improve functioning.
The practice of acupuncture and moxibustion is based on the theory of meridians. According to this theory, "Qi"(energy) circulate in the body through a system of channels called meridians, connecting internal organs with external organs or tissues. These stimulation points are called acupuncture points, or acupoints. In acupuncture clinics, the practitioner first selects appropriate acupoints along different meridians based on identified health problems. Then very fine and thin needles are inserted into these acupoints. The needles are made of stainless steel and vary in length from half an inch to 3 inches.
Physicians in the world have yet to figure out exactly how this technique works. More and more scientific studies are offering real evidence that it can ease pain and treat ailments. The Modern scientific explanation is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body’s own internal regulating system.
Together with acupuncture, herbal medicine is a major pillar of Chinese medicine. The Chinese
pharmacopoeia lists over 6,000 different medicinal substances in terms of their properties and
the disharmonies that they were helpful with. There are about 600 different herbs in common use today.
The majority of herbs are derived from the plants, using the radix, rhizome, folium, and fructus of the
plant, depending on the nature of the illness. They may include the leaf, flower, twig, fruit, stem,
root, tuber, rhizome, and bark. Some Chinese medicines are from animals which we will not use here.
Herbal medicine has been used for over thousands of years, proving that it is a safe and effective method of treatment for many diseases. Most of the components of natural herbal medicine have a very low toxicity compare to over-the-counter chemical drugs. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, two-hundred and ninety people in the United States are killed by prescription drugs every day ( Starfield, B. (2000). The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Vol 284, No 4. Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health). Although herbal medicines are safe when prescribed by a trained and knowledgeable practitioner, they are still medicines. Patients should ask about where the practitioner was well trained, how long he/she has been in practice, and what experience the practitioner has had in treating the patient's specific ailment.
Natural Medicine is traditional medicine and not an alternative. It is wholistic medicine because we treat the mind, body and spirit as a whole. It originated in the Orient, but is now used all over the world, in countries such as China, Korea, Japan, India, Germany, France, Britain, Switzerland, United States, Canada, Russia, Romania, Mexico, and Australia.
Tui Na is a form of medical massage that employs the use of the hands to press on key points of the
body to stimulate the body’s own natural healing process.
Tui Na is a hands on therapy and the practitioner can stimulate many points during a single treatment. Tui Na and acupuncture use the same meridians and acupoints. When these points are stimulated, they release tension and increase the body’s circulation of blood and nutrients to bring about the body’s own healing process. It can alleviate all manner of muscula-skeletal conditions: relaxing the nerves system, improving blood and lymph circulation, eliminating wastes and toxins, increasing circulation and creates a tangible sense of well being.
Tui Na can be effective in helping relieve headache, migraine, rheumatoid arthritis, muscle pain, strain, menstrual pain, small joint dislocations, traumatic injuries, insomnia, stress, constipation, diarrhoea, bell’s palsy, trigger finger, swollen knee, cervical spondylosis, frozen shoulder, sciatic pain, back pain and more.
Cosmetic Acupuncture is a natural and holistic anti-ageing treatment that aims
to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and hyper-pigmentation. As a consequence,
the whole body will be benefit as well.
Cosmetic Acupuncture will require a course of treatment to show pronounced results. The whole face is treated and as body points are also used, a patient's health and wellbeing can be greatly improved by undertaking a series of treatments. This treatment also works on lifting the face, particularly where the face begins to sag around the 'jowls' and the cheek area, rather than simply targeting wrinkles.
